1991
The Birmingham Japan Society (also known an Eiwakai) was formed in June 1991 to promote cultural and friendship links in the West Midlands between people from the UK and Japan. Haruko Lewis, a lecturer at the Brasshouse Language Centre in Birmingham, was one of the founding members, and the society has always had close links with the Brasshouse, although membership is not restricted to Brasshouse students.
Anyone who wishes to support the aims and objectives of the society may attend a meeting.
A programme of events takes place during the academic year
