*The Japanese name Eiwakai was derived from the kanji characters
"Ei"meaning Britain and also intellect
and "Wa" meaning Japan and also harmony. Taken together with the kanji "kai" the meaning is
Anglo-Japanese society Its adoption as the society name is intended to evoke the
auspicious combination of these desirable elements in one place.

Hi to all friends of Eiwakai,
Thank you to all who contributed to the Japan earthquake & tsunami appeal.
What a successful night at Woktastic!
We raised £330 from the collection and raffle- then the restaurant added 10% so a total of £363.
Plus the The Brasshouse Centre collected £280 from the front desk.
Sara's Mom gave us £37 when she got home.
So a grand total of................. £680!!!
Plus The Birmingham Japan Society Committee has donated £1000 as well.
Sara(Eiwakai's treasurer) has sent a cheque for £1680 to The British Red Cross.
